The Rams beat the Colts last night 33-10 on a very impressive performance.
Sam Bradford looked good like usual. I would have liked to see more deep throws, but its week 1 with a new offensive system. He had a good game hooking up with Lance Kendricks and Danny Amendola several times. A.J Feeley also had a good game. He was spot on with all his throws and took one really big shot. He had a good performance after a poor camp. Bradford was the only QB with a touchdown outing with 7/12 for 45 yards, and 1 touchdown. Thaddeus Lewis and Taylor Potts also played, not getting much action.
Cadillac Williams was impressive last night as I expected. He ran hard and earned every yard. He had 11 carries, 40 yards, and 1 touchdown. He is already the back up to Steven Jackson. The only knock on him this far is his injury concerns. He looked great out there though. Jerious Norwood also went hard out there. He showed what he can do with the ball in his hands in space and it was impressive. He also had a good day 8 carries, and 37 yards. I wish I seen him return kicks. And last but not least, Keith Toston had an excellent day. He had 11 carries, 64 yards, and 1 touchdown. He ran really hard and is trying his best to make this team. I love what he showed, and its looking really good for him.
Not too many wide receivers stepped up. Danario Alexander had a pretty good outing catching some nice balls. He also had some drops. The one he dropped in the endzone was a killer. The play was set up perfectly and had he caught that I think more people would be less critical on him. Donnie Avery and Greg Salas didn't play because of injuries. Mike Sims-Walker also left the game with an injury. Austin Pettis dropped a ball or two, and did nothing more. Brandon Gibson didn't do much either. Amendola was only out there with the starters quickly leaving after catching 2 balls. Mardy Gilyard actually had an impressive day at the position. They gave him the chance putting the ball in his hands to see what he can do, and he impressed.
Lance Kendricks went beast mode. He played 2 quarters and was catching balls left and right. He got a touchdown in his first game as well. The future looks bright for this future star. All Rams fans are acknowledging his hard work, and excellent performance. Nothing else really happened at the tight end position.
The whole starting offensive line was dominant. Harvey Dahl's presence is felt for sure. Jason Smith did brilliant holding up Robert Mathis to almost getting no pressure. The line was opening huge holes for Cadillas. The line was very impressive. I also seen Jason Brown block someone before the play was about to finish, just like Dahl would have. Looks like hes rubbing off onto the other guys. The 2nd offensive line looked good too. Opening some holes, though Feeley did take a big hit.
Justin Bannan was a rock down in the middle of the defensive line. He was not movable and his presence in the run game is already seen. In Fred Robbins' limited performance, he was getting some crazy penetration. Chris Long didn't play a lot at all. James Hall was held out with an injury. Robert Quinn seen a lot of action playing 3 quarters. He looked good out there. Critical playing time for someone who was missed football for a very long time.
The linebackers had an impressive performance. Chris Chamberlain is stating his case for a spot on this roster. He is the best special teams player we have, and he was flying around on the defense. He also laid out one of the running backs from the Colts right near the sidelines. Josh Hull didn't have a bad game filling in for James Laurinaitis. Brady Poppinga's name came up a few times with some nice penetration he got on running plays. And once again, last but not least, Jabara Williams. He had an absolutely excellent game. Looks like another good draft pick. He was flying all over the place playing great in run support and pass coverage.
The secondary had a good day too. Quintin Mikell got a pick on their first passing attempt and also helped in run support, despite playing limited time. Craig Dahl also had an interception. Jermale Hines was flying all over making tackles in the back field, the middle of the field, and even grabbing an interception. Great day for the rookie. Darian Stewart had a good day too making some touchdown saving tackles. This guy is not afraid to get physical. The undrafted corner backs had good days too. Tim Atchinson, Dionte Dinkins both did good. Atchinson almost got himself a interception, with it falling out of his hands. All in all, great day by the secondary.
The special teams looked amazing. Kickoff coverage was great. Josh Brown also nailed a 60 yard field goal. He hit 3 more with another big one coming from the 53. Great day for Brown. Mardy Gilyard struggled returning punts and kicks dropping the ball several times.

Pre season game week 1 vs. Colts
The Rams have their first game tonight against the Indianapolis Colts. We are all ready to roll and see some Rams football again. Here are some things to look out for on the Rams part :
How will Cadillac Williams and Jerious Norwood perform? Steven Jackson may not even dress, and if he does he wont touch the ball more than 3 times. We need to see Cadillac and Norwood perform. I think they will. I'd love to see a 15 carry performance from Williams. I also want to see Norwood get the ball in space and return kicks. Keith Toston will be out there too trying to save his spot on this team.
Watch for rookie tight end Lance Kendricks. He will be moving around a lot tonight. He is extremely smart and talented. Look for him to continue to impress fans. He has been exploding at camp so far. I want to see him catch many footballs.
The WR competition is still crowded. Some people are going to set themselves apart tonight and some aren't. I fully expect Sims-Walker to show us why we went after him in free agency. I dont want to see Amendola out there because were all aware of what he can do. I want to see Brandon Gibson play hard and continue to impress like he has in camp. Donnie Avery wont be out there and it isn't looking good for him. Greg Salas wont be out there tonight either. Austin Pettis should see some action and hopefully he can make some nice plays. Danario Alexander has to show us why we keep him despite his serious injury problems. I expect to see somebody set themselves apart from this group tonight.

Na'ill Diggs has to show that hes still got it. Josh Hull is coming back from season ending injury and will showcase why he should stay here and be the main backup to starting MLB James Laurinaitis. Rams extremely thin at CB for first game vs. Colts
Tomorrow night the Rams will be playing their first pre-season game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Rams have had some injuries in the past couple of days.
A lot of these injuries are happening to the cornerback position, unfortunantely. The Rams will be playing withour starting cornerback Ron Bartell. They will also be without Mikail Baker, Marquis Johnson, Al Harris, and Jerome Murphy.
This is an excellent chance for the undrafted rookie cornerbacks to make a name for themselves. Perhaps Justin King will step it up and show why we keep waiting for him to develop.

Rams release OLB David Vobora
Vobora has been a decent player who has had his ups and downs since being drafted a couple years ago as "Mr. Irrelevant". The Rams went hard into free agency to improve the LB position adding Zac Diles, Brady Poppinga, and Ben Leber. The Rams will be much better at the LB position this upcoming year, though look for someone else to be cut.
Unfotunantely Vobora's time with the Rams is up. He is a classy player and the Rams were classy enough to let him go early so he can find another team quickly. I hope the best for him because he always played hard and never complained.

Mark Clayton expected to re-sign with the Rams?
The competition the Rams have at WR is crazy. There is almost no breathing room for error. Its packed with many good receivers. Some guys are coming back from injuries and need to prove themselves. The Rams have been in talks with Clayton and he visited the facility on Wednesday. If all is well and he passes a physical, he will be a part of the Rams shortly. He was very productive last year.
He only had 6 days of practice before his first game with the Rams and he had 10 receptions for 114 yards. He picked up the playbook extremely quickly and is a solid veteran. Adding him to the competition is like adding gas to a fire. I'd like the addition because when he played last season he was productive and could be very good next year.
Though due to his knee injury Mark may have to start the season on the PUP list. If so, he cannot see the field until week 6. I hope he is ready to go because adding him to the WR position just makes us scarier.

What will get the Rams in the playoffs in 2011?
I believe they will make the playoffs but that may seem biased coming from a Rams fan. We have improved all over the place and will have several new starters when the season starts. Lets get to the topics of conversation.
The Rams must be able to run the ball effectively. Last year was not impressive. It was because of the lack of push the offensive line got at times. The addition of Harvey Dahl will help tremendously, especially because he is replacing Adam Goldberg. They failed to convert on 3rd and 1's and 4th and 1's several times which is unacceptable. The scheme McDaniels runs has tons of play action, and why run play actions if your running game is ineffective? I feel with the way the offense will attack down the field this year will definently open up some holes with Jackson, let alone with his improved already solid offensive line.
The Rams defensive line has to continue to impress and apply pressure. Last year defensive end Chris Long had a breakout season and was running wild. He had the most quarterback pressures in the whole NFL. He has 8.5 sacks as well. James Hall chipped in with 11.5 sacks of his own, and Fred Robbins adding 6.0 to that. The Rams were tied for 7th in the NFL for sacks last season. The defense amassed 43 sacks last year improving from 25 the year before. They need to continue to improve and help the secondary out. The two new defensive tackles Justin Bannan and Daniel Muir are solid run stoppers which we needed. On 3rd downs we can slide James Hall in at DT and throw Robert Quinn out at RE. That would be scary for opposing quarterbacks.
The Rams must be able to attack the defense in different ways. We will have to be able to spread defenses and with Donnie Avery coming back, that can be achieved. Josh McDaniels will draw up things to get this offense rolling. We will attack deep this year. Last year we had a very vanilla offense. We rarely seen plays go for more than 6 yards. Forget about all of that. Josh McDaniels is ready to run the rock, and attack deep off of the play action. Look for Lance Kendricks to be lined up all over the place. He is going to have a big year creating mismatches all over the field. Cadillac Williams and Jerious Norwood will also get their mismatches. Look for very interesting and different situations. The Rams offense is ready for big things.
The defense needs to continue to create turnovers so Sam Bradford can capitalize. The secondary is heavily underrated. Mikell and Dahl are going to be crazy in run support. Mikell is great in coverage, not so much Dahl. Bartell and Fletcher continue to go up man on man and play physical. Both of the corners are good in coverage and both have good size. We have guys all over the field who are good in run support, especially our secondary. With the great defensive mind of Spags we are ready to create diverse situations, and hopefully only have to rush 4 every play.

Rams' training camp news
The battle continues to heat up at the WR position. Many guys are fighting for their NFL lives at this position and many other positions too. Some camp standouts so far :
Austin Pettis has not dropped a ball I've heard. This is terrific news. He was drafted because he has an excellent set of hands and hopefully he can showcase them all season. He has been doing great so far in camp.
Lance Kendricks has been playing like a man possessed. He is big, physical, strong, and very fast. He has been catching balls left and right and has been lined up all over the place. Terrific news because this is a complex offense and this rookie TE is killing it!
Brandon Gibson has had an excellent camp too. Surprised to see another WR? Well, these guys are going all out with the amount of competition at this position. I heard he stills drops some easy balls which is unacceptable. Though he has done very good as of so far. He is making a statement. Clearly he wants to stay here and get a job.
Darian Stewart has been nothing short of spectacular. He has been flying all over the field and continues to impress. He was an undrafted free agent last year and saw some playing time in nickel and dime packages. He is making a run for the FS position. The battle between him and Craig Dahl will be very interesting to watch.
Even on Robert Quinn's first day of practice I heard he is killing it. This kid is going to be a scary pass rusher lined up across from Chris Long. He hasn't had much practice because of all the complications of his agent, his new son, and his old knee issue. He is good to go now though! Great news for all Rams fans.
Chris Long has been absolutely bullying Jason Smith. This is excellent practice for a youngster like Smith. Long has been dominant in both passing and running situations. This is good to hear because a lot of the Rams defensive success came from the defensive line creatine pressure.
And some bad news. The Rams have had a few injuries. Eugene Sims and Mike Hoomanawanui both had concussions. Jerome Murphy has a fractured foot and will miss around 10 weeks. Terrible news and hopefully he recovers quickly. Maybe this makes the Al Harris signing even more important.

Rams re-sign OG/OT Adam Goldberg
The versatile offensive guard and offensive tackle Adam Goldberg was re-signed by the Rams today. This was an excellent move because he provides great depth for both the guard and tackle positions. Adam Goldberg may be the best 6th man in the NFL just because of the versatility he provides. His starting job will be lost to newly acquired guard Harvey Dahl due to his lack of power.
How does the Rams Free Agent class grade?
The Rams made a lot of moves during this free agency period. I am very pleased as all Rams fans are. We made many moves to improve our team on offense, defense, and special teams. We have found 5 new starters :

Rams in full go today
The Rams had another training camp practice today, though this one was much better than the others. All of the free agent signings got to practice today because the CBA was finally ratified today. All of the guys were dieng to get out there, and us fans were dieng to seet hem out there.
Mike Sims-Walker, in only his second play as a Ram, caught a 50 yard touchdown pass from Sam Bradford earning a applause from the fans. He has been impressive with his one day of practice under his belt. Austin Pettis has been on fire for a few days now. He is catching everything coming his way. A good route runner, he also has been physical with the bigger corners trying to press him. He has done an excellent job beating the press, getting open, and snagging the ball. Greg Salas is very smooth while running his routes. He is really fast and when he makes cuts he loses no speed. Brandon Gibson has also been impressive out there. He's really stepped up, and now actually has a decent chance of making the roster. I'd prefer to see us trade him; he'd only make the roster in my opinion is if we kept 7 WR's.

How could any Rams fan be dissapointed?
Devaney and Spags have done it once again, though this time, they had to impress everybody. They went out in free agency and filled virtually every hole we had. They picked up quality starters, some stars, and some role players. We will see a lot of new faces around next year, and I am looking for a breakout season from the Rams. Lets look at some of the holes we fixed.
OG - Adam Goldberg is replaced by Harvey Dahl
OLB - Larry Grant is replaced by Zac Diles
CB - Kevin Dockery/Quincy Butler is replaced by Al Harris

WR - Laurent Robinson is replaced by Mike Sims-Walker
All of the guys signed are going to see some playing time, some more than others but they will see the field. I expect these guys to drastically improve the Rams on all 3 phases of the game. This is a very exciting time to be a Rams fan because we are on the up.
Rams are ready for RB Cadillac Williams
According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the Rams are finalizing a deal with former Tampa Bay RB Cadillac Williams today. This is terrific news for all Rams fans. We can finally rejoice. DeSpags has done it again, though this time they've solved the problem that we've had for 3 years now. Bring the Caddy to St. Louis. He is going to join a backfield with Steven Jackson and Jerious Norwood. Norwood is the change of pace back, Caddy is the 3rd down back, and SJAX is Mr. Do it all. This makes the RB position a strength on the team. All Rams fans should be pleased with the soon to be addition of Cadillac Williams. He is going to bring a new dimension to this team. He will be able to provide breaks for SJ39 and will be able to take over with Norwood incase of an injury to Jackson.

Rams sign OLB Brady Poppinga
The Rams make yet another signing this time it was outside linebacker Brady Poppinga from the Packers. Not a big splashy name, and theres a reason. He will provide good depth along the outside. He was injured all last year unfortunantely. He is a pretty good special teams player too. I dont see Poppinga in action on the defensive side of the ball because I feel we have more talented linebackers ready to step in. He is a nice depth signing though.

Rams snag RB Jerious Norwood
The Rams have signed running back Jerious Norwood from the Atlanta Falcons for a one year deal. He has had some injury issues in the past and missed all of last season. He is a good change of pace back and will not be the number 2. Many Rams fans including I believe we will go out and grab another tonight that can be the primary back incase Steven were to go down to an injury. Norwood will be able to return kicks and is an excellent home run hitter.
I like the idea of grabbing 2 backs. Norwood can take it to the house any time he touches the ball. He is an exciting player to watch especially in the open field. I hope the Rams add somebody else tonight (Snelling, Harrison, or Cadillac Williams). Our RB situation is turning into a good thing. Hopefully Norwood and perhaps a new RB can take some of the load off of SJAX and prolong his career.

Rams sign DT Daniel Muir and RB search continues
The Rams signed defensive tackle Daniel Muir from the Colts. He has been starting there for 2 years now and is a good addition. He and Bannan will battle for the starting job with the other being in the rotation. Either way, we got a new starter which is a positive. In the last 2 season Muir has 90 tackles, which is a lot. Muir will be a nice addition because we are constantly rotating players along the defensive line. He has to prove he deserves this starting job and has to compete hard.

Rams show interest in many running backs
The Rams are said to have interest in both Falcons running backs Jason Snelling and Jerious Norwood. Starting off with Snelling, I'd love to sign him. He is the most complete 3rd down back in the NFL. His statistics from last season were 87 rushing attempts, 324 yards, 2 touchdowns, 44 receptions, 303 yards, and 3 touchdowns. As you can see Snelling is productive. He is good at all phases of the game (Catching, Running, Blocking). If we add him I'd love the 1-2 punch between him and SJAX. I would like to think he would touch the ball 6-8 times a game, if not more.
Jerious Norwood was injured all of last year though is another good option. He is truly the change of pace back that could back up Jackson. Norwood has game breaking speed and has the ability to run and catch the rock. He would probably also be returning punts and kicks to give Amendola a break. This signing wouldn't be bad though I am not sure if its exactly what were looking for. If we got him, I can't say I'd be angry.
Ronnie Brown is another running back that's being pursued by the Rams. When healthy, this kid can play. He is a solid running back with a boat load of skills. He is a starting running back in this league, though he is on the market. He is a solid runner with a lot of power to muscle through defenders. He can catch and block too. He can be a real steal, even at his declining age of 29. I'd love this signing because Jackson and Brown would in my opinion make the best 1-2 punch in the NFL. Brown is a less physical weaker but faster Steven Jackson. Looking at talented players like Brown and realizing Steven is much better than them is what makes me grateful. We have something special at running back and adding the dangerous Brown would make us that much better. He could take the load no questions asked if SJ missed a game or just needs a breather.

Rams trade rumors about OG John Greco?
This could be the Rams' first trade this offseason. John Greco may be heading to Cleveland to reunite with his old offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. Shurmur must think he see's something in Greco that the rest of us don't.
Greco doesn't care about football, therefore he will never be great. He has no motivation to step up even with the countless opportunities he had last season. He couldn't even see the field being inactive for several games. He couldn't beat out Goldberg for the starting job, and Goldberg got negative push on running plays. Greco has had a countless amount of opportunities and he continued to fail to take advantage of them. I don't think we will get much if anything for Greco, probably a 6th round pick. A lot of fans wanted to keep him around for depth though I don't care much because the guys that dont care about football never perform at a high level.
If the Rams can scam the Browns for a good deal it would be great, though I am expecting a low pick. We may also go after one of there linebackers like Chris Gocong, Scott Fujita, or D'Qwell Jackson who would be my choice.

The Rams have just signed defensive tackle Justin Bannan from the Denver Broncos. He is a veteran presence who can help Robbins guide the young defensive tackles. At this point, I would say he will get the starting job over guys like Gary Gibson, Jermelle Cudjo, and Darell Scott though they will have a rotation going.
Not a special signing though it may have been an upgrade to what we are currently using. I'd like to see him perform like Fred Robbins did last season, though that was special and is very unlikely. Bannan has never been a great player, but he could be a nice piece to the rotation along the defensive tackles. He can help stop the run and on 3rd downs Spags can slide James Hall into DT and put Robert Quinn on the edge which could be a dangerous pass rush.
